TL;DR
  • Google Home now lets you set up different Favorites for each device.
  • That means you can pin the front door as a favorite on your smartwatch, while the lounge light is pinned on Google TV.
  • This should be useful if you tend to control different smart home gadgets via specific devices.

Google has just announced the stable release of Android 16, while also revealing a few features for ecosystem users. It turns out there’s a notable addition to the Google Home app as well.

The search giant announced that you can now set up different Favorites for each device. In other words, you can pin one specific smart home gadget as a favorite on your phone and a different smart home gadget as a favorite on your Wear OS watch.

“For example, you can pin your security cameras to your Google TV, your kitchen speaker to your Android phone, and your thermostat to your Wear OS smartwatch — whatever combination makes it easier to manage your home,” Google explained in a blog post. Either way, this should make life a little easier if you like to control certain smart home gadgets from specific devices.

Google says this feature is available if you sign up for the Google Home Public Preview program. Otherwise, the company hasn’t dished out a timeline for broad availability.

This isn’t the only notable Google announcement today. In addition to stable Android 16, the company announced several Google Messages features, a redesigned Google Photos editor, the Pixel VIPs widget, and more.
