Google Home is acting up, but Google's already got a fix on the way
Oct 2, 2026 — 11:04 AM ET

- Some users are currently seeing errors in the Google Home mobile apps, although the web version appears to work fine.
- Google has acknowledged the bug and confirmed that a fix is rolling out.
- One person found that clearing the cache and storage, plus switching to a different Wi-Fi network, fixed the problem.
If we curated a list of all the Google Home issues we keep running into, it would be pretty lengthy. In the past month alone, we’ve reported an alarm routines and smart lights bug, along with a strange bug where connected devices refused to answer simple questions. Now, some users are experiencing a flurry of errors in the Home app, and it looks like Google is already sending out a fix.
An affected user detailed their ordeal on Reddit, explaining how Google Home has become “very slow” and displays errors when tapping or interacting with any of their linked devices. They added that reinstalling the app throws up an “Internal error encountered” message along with the loading indicator.
While this person was seemingly facing errors in the iOS app, another user chimed in to say they’re facing a similar issue on the Android app. This bug appears to affect only the mobile apps, though, and the web version seems to work fine. A bug like this can be pretty frustrating when some of your important connected devices, including home security products, rely on the Google Home app.
The good news is that Google’s official Nest Community account reports that it is “actively rolling out a fix for this.” If you haven’t received it yet, just hold tight; we don’t yet know how long it will take to reach everyone.
One user facing the same errors found that switching to a different Wi-Fi network and clearing the cache and storage stopped these errors from popping up. If you’re in the same boat as some of the other affected Google Home users, there’s no harm in trying this out.
That said, since Google has already confirmed it’s rolling out a fix for this bug, we hope that they won’t have to wait long to see it patched.
