Google Gemini autocomplete for AI queries

TL;DR
  • Google is working on a new “Remembered items” section within Gemini’s Personal Intelligence settings.
  • The feature will let users view and manage text and images they’ve explicitly asked Gemini to remember.
  • The interface is accessible with flags enabled, but it isn’t fully functional yet.

Gemini is getting increasingly good at offering personalized information, and its memory plays a huge part in making that possible. The AI tool learns your preferences over time, but you also have the option to explicitly ask it to remember specific things for future reference. We’ve previously spotted Google working on making the process of asking Gemini to remember things easier, and it looks like the tech giant is now focusing on what happens afterward.

As of right now, the easiest way to check everything you’ve explicitly asked Gemini to remember is to ask the AI assistant directly. That could soon change.

Version 17.70.10.sa.arm64 of the Google app gives us our first look at Gemini’s new Remembered items option within the Personal Intelligence section. This is where you’ll be able to “view and manage the text and images you’ve saved to memory,” according to the feature’s description.

Note that the functionality will share this settings menu with Gemini’s existing Memory feature. While Memory tracks things Gemini learns about you from past chats, the new Remembered items section will explicitly track what you’ve told Gemini to remember about you.

As seen in the images above, if and when available, tapping Remembered items will take you to a distinct chat-like interface. The underlying functionality isn’t active yet, and hence the section appears blank with an error at the bottom. When available, this screen should highlight everything Gemini remembers about you.

There also appears to be a text box that could let you add or remove details. Sending instructions through the box also currently highlights an error.

Nevertheless, this is an interesting development that points to Google working toward a more complete Personal Intelligence experience for Gemini users.

This comes soon after we spotted Google working on a dedicated Remember shortcut for the Gemini overlay.

⚠️ An APK teardown helps predict features that may arrive on a service in the future based on work-in-progress code. However, it is possible that such predicted features may not make it to a public release.
