Gemini's Daily Brief could soon land on your Pixel's lock screen
Aug 20, 2026 — 12:58 PM ET

- Google could bring Gemini Daily Brief to Pixel phones’ lock screens via the At a Glance widget.
- It’s unclear whether the AI-powered brief will appear in the At a Glance widget in its original form, given the space constraints.
- Gemini Daily Brief is currently exclusive to US residents and requires a Google AI subscription to access.
Google’s At a Glance widget is already one of our favorite features on Pixel devices, making it a snap to keep up with useful info throughout our days. And now it looks like Google’s working to make it even better, as we spot the company preparing to bring a Gemini-related feature to the At a Glance lock screen experience.

Digging around the latest version of the Android System Intelligence app, we’ve discovered early evidence of the Gemini Daily Brief making its way to the At a Glance lock screen widget. For the uninitiated, Gemini Daily Brief offers personalized and relevant updates to users every day and is currently available on Android and iOS, as well as the web. You won’t yet see this on your own device, but Google’s working to add a Gemini Daily Brief toggle to the long list of At a Glance features:
As you can see in the screenshots above, the Gemini Daily Brief toggle would appear among the multiple options in the Customize section, slotting in between the Air Quality and Finance toggles. The text accompanying the toggle leaves no ambiguity about what it’s designed to do. Unfortunately, we haven’t yet been able to actually get it to appear in the At a Glance lock screen widget, so it’s hard to tell what form it could take.
It will be interesting to see how the limited lock screen space might accommodate these briefs, which can sometimes be lengthy. This opens the possibility of Google possibly displaying a more compact version of the Daily Brief on the At a Glance lock screen widget. Samsung has managed to make the idea work, at least, and Samsung’s Now Brief, which serves a similar purpose on Galaxy phones, is accessible from the lock screen.
Gemini’s Daily Brief is currently limited to US residents and requires a Google AI subscription. It’s unclear whether these limitations will continue when (or if) Google actually introduces this addition. As with most early discoveries, we can’t be certain that Google will ultimately incorporate Gemini Daily Brief into the At a Glance lock screen experience.
Still, a feature like this definitely adds utility to Pixel phones. Offering immediate access to Gemini Daily Brief via the lock screen could be useful to people who routinely use it, saving them from opening the Gemini app and manually accessing it each time.
