The first Google Assistant smart displays will go on sale in July
Google announced Smart Displays, its initiative to compete with the Amazon Echo Show, way back at CES 2018. While we did get to spend some hands-on time with these displays at the trade show, we have yet to hear any availability details. Until now, that is.
At the I/O 2018 developer conference, Google announced that Smart Displays from JBL, Lenovo, and LG will go on sale later this July. Of course, we don’t have any pricing details as of yet, but we’ll be sure to update this as we learn more.
In addition to Smart Display availability, Google also revealed that users will be able to watch YouTube TV — a subscription service that’s currently only available on televisions — right on their Smart Displays. The Smart Displays will also feature new customizable ambient screens, including a clock, the weather or your own photos.
Stay tuned for even more Google I/O 2018 coverage!
