Google's $5 AI plan is now even more tempting

If you’re a power user who utilizes Google’s services for daily tasks, you’re definitely missing out if you haven’t already subscribed to a Google AI plan. Beyond giving you increased access to Google’s most capable AI models, the plans also bundle benefits across other Google products, cloud storage, and even the option to share your subscription with family members. Now, Google is adding another perk to the mix.

Google announced that its AI subscriptions now include access to premium Google Colab perks.

For those unaware, Google Colab is the tech giant’s browser-based cloud platform that offers access to computing resources, including GPUs and TPUs, and lets users write and execute Python code without having to install any software. Standalone Google Colab subscriptions cost $9.99 and $49.99 per month for Pro and Pro+, respectively. Bringing those benefits to AI plans means users can get started with Colab for as little as $4.99 per month.

Those who pay more for an AI Ultra subscription get added perks, including uninterrupted background execution and Premium GPU access. Plus, if you already pay for a standalone Google Colab subscription, benefits from an added Google AI subscription can be stacked. Essentially, compute units from each would be added to your overall balance.

To get your Colab benefits via a Google AI plan, head to the “Colab paid products” link and choose “Upgrade to Google One.” Your Colab perks will automatically be applied once your Google AI subscription is confirmed. Ensure that you use the same Google account for both services. You’ll be able to verify that your benefits have been activated by heading to Settings > Subscription in Colab.

Note that Colab perks are only available with paid Google AI plans. If you’re on a free trial, you won’t qualify.

Colab benefits via Google AI plans are rolling out to Colab-supported countries now. It can take a few weeks for all the perks to appear in your account.
