Assigning tasks to Gemini just got a little easier

- Gemini Spark now lives on the app’s home screen on mobile.
- Spark is accessible through a new button labeled Task.
- Chat and task history has also been reorganized.
Gemini’s Spark feature that can automate your digital tasks is getting easier to access. A recent update adds a Task button to the Gemini app’s home screen, simplifying the process to set Gemini to work on all your mundane internet grunt work.
As noted by 9to5Google, Gemini Spark has graduated from the app’s navigation drawer to prime real estate right on its home screen. It’s also ditched the Spark branding in the UI, with the new button reading “Task.”
An in-app text box calls out the change, reading “A new home for Spark: Start new tasks anytime and keep track of them in your chats.” In place of the outgoing Spark option in the app’s navigation drawer, there’s a new Scheduled option that reveals current, past, and ongoing Spark tasks.

9to5 also points out that the Recents menu item that brought up a list of your recent Gemini interactions has been replaced by a new option called All, which now takes you to all of your chats and tasks in one unified history. This new section has a filter button to narrow down your history to the specific type of interaction you’re looking for.
We’re able to confirm that this new Tasks button and attendant settings reorganization is now live in the iOS version of the Gemini app in addition to the Android update 9to5 spotted, though we haven’t seen it in the web client yet.
We previously spotted an in-progress version of a similar redesign last month, though that iteration had buttons labeled Chat and Assign rather than the current Chat and Task.
Do you use Gemini’s Tasks feature? If yes, does this new reorganization seem like an improvement to you? Talk it out in the comments.
