TL;DR
  • Verizon release notes provide a clue about Google Assistant on the Galaxy Watch 4.
  • While probably close, the feature has still not be released.

After months of waiting, users may finally be close to having access to Google Assistant on their Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.

When Samsung released a slew of updates for the Galaxy Watch 4 in February 2022, the company said Google Assistant would arrive “in the coming months,” refusing to give a specific release date. Software update notes from Verizon are now providing the most concrete indication that the date may be close, although users still have a bit longer to wait.

Verizon’s release notes include a screenshot showing Google Assistant as an option in the settings. The screenshot is accompanied by the following description:

If you have Google Assistant downloaded, it will show up in the settings menu under Google Accounts.

Some users believed Google Assistant was automatically included in this update, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. According to Droid-Life, at least one of their users has already installed the update, and Google Assistant is not included.

Nonetheless, Verizon’s release notes are clearly an indication the feature is coming, most likely sooner rather than later. The qualifier “if you have Google Assistant downloaded” may indicate Google Assistant could be available as a separate download or included in a future update.
