TL;DR
  • Google is rolling out free Google One VPN access to Pixel 7 owners now.
  • The feature is available in all Pixel launch markets aside from India and Singapore.

Google is promising a handy perk if you bought the Pixel 7 series, offering free access to the Google One VPN. The only issue is that the tool wasn’t actually available at launch.

Now, 9to5Google reports that the Google One VPN is indeed rolling out on Pixel 7 devices. You should see a new splash screen after launching the Google One app on your phone, advertising the tool’s availability. You can also visit the “benefits” tab to view more details about the tool. Otherwise, you can activate the feature via a quick setting toggle or by visiting settings > network and internet > VPN.

The news comes just over a month after Google quietly confirmed that the VPN perk would be available to Pixel 7 owners from December 2022. So the company is slightly early with the current release.

It’s worth noting that the free Google One VPN perk is available in all Pixel launch countries bar India and Singapore. This is because the service, which usually requires a 2TB+ Google One plan, wasn’t available in these two markets to begin with.

Google’s VPN also doesn’t let you switch regions to access geo-restricted content. So you might want to consider one of the many other VPN services out there if that’s what you’re after.
