TL;DR
  • According to Down Detector, Fitbit is down for most people right now.
  • The outage prevents your app from successfully connecting to Fitbit’s servers, which renders it mostly useless.
  • It’s not clear how long the outage will last, but hopefully, it’s resolved soon.

If you opened your Fitbit app this morning to check your sleep stats, you may have found that the app didn’t boot up correctly. Well, you’re not alone in that problem. According to Down Detector, there are thousands of reports of a system outage.

Here at Android Authority, our Fitbit apps also don’t work. When we open the app, the interface loads but none of the modules successfully complete their updates. This renders the app mostly useless, as we can’t see our stats. We also can’t use the app to connect to our trackers, so we can’t make any changes or updates.

Fitbit acknowledged the issue on Twitter and noted that it’s working to fix the technical issue. However, there is no timeline for the fix, so we have no idea how long the service will be down.

We have identified a technical issue interrupting Fitbit services, and are working to fix it. Thank you for your patience.

In the meantime, we have a list of things you can do to fix common issues. It’s unlikely any of them will work at the moment, but you might be one of the lucky few who still have a connection to Fitbit’s servers.

We will update this article once the service is back up.
