Energizer has shown off its new Android device, the Power Max P18K Pop, at MWC 2019. It’s an interesting handset, coming with a triple rear camera, Helio P70 chipset, and 6GB of RAM.

Oh, and it’s packing an 18,000mAh battery, too.

That’s right, the Power Max P18K Pop’s battery is around five times the size of an average Android phone battery, which means the unit itself is considerably bigger than most other phones. While many OEMs are currently worrying about how to make slim and light folding devices, Energizer has just revealed possibly the chunkiest smartphone we’ve ever seen.

The Power Max P18K Pop’s battery is said to be good for 200 hours of video playback, or 50 days of standby time. Energizer also says the handset comes with fast charging, which is great, although it will still take eight to nine hours to fully charge.

To give you an idea of how that stacks up against other current phones, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus‘ battery comes in at 4,100mAh and the HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro battery capacity is 4,200mAh, and the Apple iPhone XS Max has a 3,174mAh battery. Last year’s average Android flagship phone had something around a 3,500mAh cell.

We don’t know how much Energizer’s behemoth weighs but we’re trying to track down Thor’s hammer for a comparison. In the meantime, here’s the Power Max P18K Pop next to a Galaxy S8:

The Power Max P18K Pop’s rear cameras come in at 12MP+5MP+2MP while its other specs include 128GB of internal storage, a fingerprint sensor, dual SIM support, and a pop-up dual selfie camera (16MP+2MP).

The phone looks ridiculous by today’s standards but it’s obviously something Energizer is aware of. The company knows this is a niche device but, as far as niche phones go, we can’t fault Energizer for tackling an area that’s still the bane of all our lives: ever-dwindling smartphone battery life.

The Power Max P18K Pop price will be set at 599 euros (~$680) when it’s launched in Europe this June. There are no plans to release it in the U.S. just yet.
