Deal: Verizon doubles the data of your prepaid plan, so long as you are new
For a limited time, new customers can get double the data if they sign up for one of Verizon’s prepaid plans.
This means that the $30 plan goes from 500MB to 1GB, the $40 plan goes from 3GB to 6GB, the $50 plan goes from 7GB to 14GB, and the $60 plan goes from 10GB to 20GB. You can get an unlimited prepaid plan for $75 each month, though the promotion bets that you will get one of the metered plans instead.
Each prepaid plan that falls under the promotion includes unlimited talk and text, along with carryover data, mobile hotspot, and unlimited text to over 200 countries. The $60 plan also gets unlimited talk to Mexico and Canada.
Keep in mind that the promotion is only for new customers. If you are an existing prepaid customer, your only bet is to cancel your current plan and sign up for a new one.
Verizon also notes that you get double the data “for as long as the account stays active on an eligible plan.” Do not panic if you do not see twice the data bucket when you checkout. It shows up in the My Verizon app.
Finally, the usual caveats with Verizon’s prepaid plans apply. For example, speeds get knocked down to 128kbps once your monthly data allowance is up. Video streaming quality also gets knocked down to 480p, regardless of how much data you have left.
