Last week, a disgruntled OnePlus came to the Internet to talk about Cyanogen working exclusively with MicroMax in India, leading much of the web to believe that the OnePlus One would launch with CM but wouldn’t receive any Cyanogenmod updates in India, due to Cyanogen’s “exclusive” partnership with Micromax. In a post earlier today, Cyanogen came out to defend themselves and squash any rumors that have been circulating.

When it was incorrectly revealed that Indian residents wouldn’t receive updates on the One, users were upset, and rightfully so. The OnePlus One is a really great phone, but the unique Cyanogenmod software that ships with it is perhaps the most popular reason to buy the phone among users. After the pitchforks were put away, Cyanogen announced their plans to continue support for the One.

We are proud of the work we did on the OnePlus One. Through our collaboration with OnePlus, we demonstrated the power of strong hardware and software tuned for exceptional performance. To clarify misinformation out there, the OnePlus One will get OTA firmware updates for all global devices, including global devices for our users in India. Rather than have misinformation continue to circulate out there, we felt it important to bring this matter to rest.

As Micromax announced their exclusive partnership with Cyanogen, confusion ensued, and it seems many of us jumped to conclusions before hearing all the facts. So, good news, OnePlus One owners (especially those of you in India)! With all of this being said, are you still thinking of picking up a OnePlus One?
