Chrome extensions are chiefly designed with the Chrome desktop web browser in mind, but you can use them on your phone. The big difference, however, is that the Chrome browser on your phone does not support extensions. Instead, some Chromium-based browsers do support extensions that you can install from the Chrome Web Store.

One version of the Chrome app does seem to have extension support in the works — but this is specifically the “desktop” build of Chrome for Android. There’s no evidence that this specific build will make its way to phones or tablets.

How to use Chrome extensions on Android

Several mobile browsers support extensions, but only some allow installing from the Chrome Web Store itself. Two options include Yandex and Quetta. Kiwi was another popular choice, however the app shut down in 2025. Microsoft Edge Canary also allows you to install extensions using developer options and the extension’s ID or CRX file, however this is a bit less straightforward than other apps. In our testing, the method also does not always work.

With that in mind, we’ll show you how to install Chrome extensions using Yandex and Quetta as these proved to be the most reliable apps for this.

How to install Chrome extensions on Yandex

Yandex has a a few default extensions you can enable without visiting the Chrome Web Store, but these are extremely limited. We recommend going to Chrome’s store to install your extension if you don’t see it listed. To install one, follow these steps:

  1. To view available extensions, open Yandex, then tap on the three-line icon at the bottom right of the home screen.
  2. Tap on the Settings icon.
  3. Select Extensions catalog.
  4. Tap Install on the extension you want to install. This will take you to the Chrome Web Store page. If you don’t see the extension you want to install, just go to the Chrome Web Store site using the browser and visit the page of the extension you want to install.
  1. Select Add to Chrome at the top-right of the page, then tap Add Extension in the pop-up and wait for the extension to download and install.
  2. You can manage the extension in your extensions catalog. If you installed an extension that wasn’t already listed in Yandex, it will appear under a heading called From other sources.

How to install Chrome extensions on Quetta

Quetta also allows you to install extensions directly from the Chrome Web Store. When you start the browser up for the first time, it includes a shortcut to the Chrome Web Store to make the process easier. But you can also search for and access extensions through its settings menu.

To install Chrome extensions on Quetta, follow these steps:

  1. Open Quetta and tap the three-dot icon at the bottom right.
  2. Select the puzzle icon to access the extensions menu, then select Manage Extensions.
  • In the search bar, type the name of the extension you want to install. Once it shows up, tap Install.
  • Tap OK to confirm that you want to install the extension.
  • You can also find and install extensions by tapping the three-dot menu button and tapping Extensions. If you want to go directly to the Chrome Web Store, visit the site and click Add to Chrome on the extension’s page. If you don’t see the button, switch to the desktop version of the site by tapping the three-dot menu icon and selecting Request desktop site.

Popular Chrome extensions you should try on Android

Now that you know how to install Chrome extensions on Android, try some of these popular options on your device.

    • uBlock Origin: While some users still swear on Adblock, uBlock Origin is the best way to block ads on most browsers, including Chrome. The extensions not only lets you block ads but also those annoying cookie alert popups.
    • LastPass: LastPass is a great password management extension that also has an Android app. It lets you lock all your critical phrases, personal details, and login credentials behind a secure password.
