Buying a brand-new smartphone can give you plenty of peace of mind, but it’s not the only option out there. Taking the refurbished route is another viable option, as second-hand phones can still be very capable devices.

Counterpoint Research recently reported 15% year-on-year growth for the global refurbished market in 2021, led by Apple and Samsung. By comparison, new smartphone shipments only grew 4.5% last year. So with this research in mind, we’d like to know whether you’d buy a refurbished phone. Let us know via the poll below.

Would you buy a refurbished phone?

The main reason for buying a refurbished phone is that it’s often significantly cheaper than buying a new model. Instead of spending $800 on a Galaxy S22, you can knock $100 to $200 off by taking the second-hand route, for example. It also makes environmental sense, as these phones are getting a new lease of life.

Then again, we can understand why people would buy a brand-new phone instead. You know you’re getting a phone that doesn’t have any wear and tear, and you can rely on after-sales service for any issues.

So are you open to taking the refurbished route? Take our poll above and leave a comment if you’ve got more on your mind.
