The Google Stadia Controller is now available for pre-order by itself. Previously, it was only available if you bought the Stadia Founder’s Edition bundle.

As with the Founder’s Edition, the Stadia Controller will ship in November 2019. You can buy it in Clearly White, Just Black, and Wasabi — the Night Blue option is exclusive to the Founder’s Edition.

Getting the Stadia Controller by itself doesn’t give you access to Stadia. As such, you should only buy the controller if you’re also picking up the Founder’s Edition or if you’ll get access to Stadia through a Buddy Pass.

The Stadia Controller can be yours for $69. If that’s too much for your wallet, Stadia will support third-party USB and Bluetooth controllers. That means you can potentially use Stadia with the DualShock 4, Xbox One controller, SteelSeries Stratus Duo, or Logitech Gamepad F310.

Opting for Google’s controller nets you some benefits, however. The Stadia Controller features a dedicated Google Assistant button and a Capture button that saves video clips and screenshots. There’s also a USB-C port for charging and a headphone jack for audio.

The Stadia Controller also directly connects to Google’s gaming data centers. Combined with Stadia’s cloud infrastructure, the Stadia Controller lets you switch devices and almost-instantly pick up where you left off.
