BlackBerry has introduced a new fan scheme to help promote its content. The BlackBerry Smartphone Fan League promises that users can “become a superfan” and “win awesome prizes” by sharing BlackBerry news on social media.

Fans can sign up on the official website (brought to our attention by The Verge) where they will earn points in return for promoting BlackBerry and getting others to participate in the scheme. “The more people take action (like, retweet) on links shared through the system on approved social networks, the more Points you rack up,” it says in the website’s FAQ section.

For every 100 points a person earns, they will be entered in a sweepstakes draw for the opportunity to win one of two weekly prize bundles, one of which “consists of a mug, stickers, and a style ring,” while the other “consists of a bag, a hat, stickers, and a style ring.”

The program is run by a company called Social Toaster.

The sweepstakes rules page states there are “Nine (9) total Sweepstakes prizes” available, during an event period that begins on March 20th and ends on April 30th. A BlackBerry smartphone—which looks like a BlackBerry KeyONE Black Edition—is up for grabs as part of a monthly draw.

According to the FAQ section, “SuperFans” are “people who share the latest news and information like blog posts, events, contests, and more using social networks like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.” The page doesn’t include a working definition of “desperate company.”
