The BlackBerry KEYone Black Edition is a looker of a phone, but it still runs Android Nougat.

TL;DR
  • BlackBerry launched the unlocked version of the KEYone Black Edition in the US.
  • The KEYone Black Edition features 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, and an all-black exterior.
  • The KEYone Black Edition is available from Amazon and Best Buy for $550.

Previously available across Europe, Asia, Latin America, and other regions, the BlackBerry KEYone Black Edition is now available in the US.

The Black Edition eschews the silver accents of the regular KEYone in favor of an all-black exterior. It looks more impressive in person than it does in the image above, with the black giving the KEYone a more traditional BlackBerry aesthetic.

Other changes include a small bump from 3 GB to 4 GB of RAM, as well as another bump from 32 GB to 64 GB of internal storage.

Everything else about the Black Edition remains the same compared to the regular KEYone. That means the phone features a 4.5-inch 1620 x 1080 display, 12 MP main camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, a microSD card slot, and a 3,505 mAh battery.

The real star of the Black Edition, apart from the battery life, is its keyboard. The touch-sensitive frets between the four character rows use Android’s mouse framework so that you can scroll through webpages and apps. The keys themselves are great to type on and can be programmed to launch apps with a long-press.

Like the regular KEYone, the Black Edition still runs Android Nougat, though BlackBerry promised an update to Android Oreo, which should bring a small performance boost.

If your eyes are set on the Black Edition, you can buy the phone through Amazon and Best Buy for $550. Pick it up the phone at the links below.
