A lot of great things happened in the tech world in 2019. Like every year, though, we also saw plenty of big fails from delayed smartphone launches to major security breaches.

2019 was not a good year for gigantic companies doing shady things, but at least companies are getting fined for the big ones. Facebook was fined $5 billion for its big Cambridge Audio Analytica scandal, while AT&T was fined $60 million for false advertisement regarding its unlimited data plans.

2019 was also the year for everyone ganging up on HUAWEI. The company couldn’t catch a break. It all started in May when HUAWEI was added to the US’ Entity List. The HUAWEI vs US feud is still going on today with the company still not being able to use Google services on its Android phones. It’s a bummer.

We can’t talk about 2019 fails without bringing up the Galaxy Fold, Samsung’s first foldable phone. The phone launched eventually, but only after Samsung went back to the drawing board to make sure its $2,000 phone would actually survive being put in a pocket.
