Apple is finally hopping on the wireless chargers bandwagon in smartphones. The company revealed last week that the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X will all natively support the Qi wireless charging platform, which will allow owners to charge up their batteries by simply placing their iPhones on a wireless charging pad or stand.
While Apple made it sound like wireless charging was something new in its press event this week (it even called it “the future of wireless”), the truth is that a number of Android phones have natively supported such hardware for a while now — like years and years (And Android wasn’t even the first, with Palm and others offering such options back in the day).
The good news is that there is a variety of wireless chargers, standsm and even car mounts to choose from. We’ve compiled a list of products that we think are the best of the current lineup. All of these chargers support the Qi wireless charging platform, which has now emerged as the main technology standard for these kinds of products.
Which Android phones support wireless charging?
Some of the more prominent current phones on the market that can use wireless charging accessories natively include the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, the Galaxy S8 Active, the Galaxy S7, and S7 Edge, the Galaxy Note 8, and the LG G6 and V30. In addition, Motorola offers optional Mod Mods that add wireless charging support for its Moto Z lineup of phones, including the recent Moto Z2 Force, the Moto Z2 Play, and the older Moto Z Force, the Moto Z, and the Moto Z Play.
People who order the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 in the U.S. before Sept. 24 are eligible to get a free Fast Wireless Charger pad, along with a 128 GB microSD card.
Choetech Fast Charge Wireless Charger Stand
The Choetech Fast Charge Wireless Charger Stand is one of the few third-party devices you can buy that supports Fast Charge Mode, which is great if you have bought the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, the Galaxy Note 5, and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. When placed on the Choetech stand, all of those phones will charge up to 1.4 times faster than other Qi-based phones.
The design of the charger stand allows phones to be placed either in portrait or landscape mode, and it has two wireless charging coils inside that offer a wide charging area. You can keep using your phone on the stand to watch videos or just surf the net while it charges up. Keep in mind that while the stand also comes with a micro USB charger cord, you will have to purchase a separate AC adapter to connect it to your wall power outlet. The Choetech Fast Charge Wireless Charger Stand is currently available on Amazon for $17.99.

Kroma Wireless Charging Pad
This member on our wireless chargers list is about as bare bones of a product as you can get in this category. It does not support Fast Charging, and it can’t convert to a stand mode. The Kroma Wireless Charging Pad is just a small device that can charge up your Qi-based phone wirelessly at standard speeds.
So why is it on this list? The Kroma Wireless Charging Pad is also dirt cheap. Amazon is currently selling it for just $9.99. At the moment, there’s nothing else that’s lower in price. This makes the Kroma perfect for people who want to perhaps buy multiple wireless charging pads for the home, or perhaps to take one out on the road.
Anker Fast Wireless Charger Charging Pad
The Anker company is one of the biggest in terms of offering wireless chargers for smartphones. Its wireless charging pad is large, and it even comes with an LED light that shows the current charging status.
The “Fast” part of this product’s title comes from the fact that the Anker product can support Fast Charging on those Samsung Qi phones. However, you will also need to purchase a separate wall charger from Anker in order to add this support. Otherwise, this accessory is a solid wireless pad to purchase for the reasonable price of $19.99.
TYLT VU Wireless Phone Charging Pad
The TYLT VU Wireless Charger has a rather unique design compared to most other wireless chargers. The TYLT VU is actually more of a stand that allow you to place your Qi-based phone in either a portrait or landscape mode for charging. As you can see, it’s also very attractive.
While it doesn’t support any Fast Charge features, the TYLT VU seems to be a good compromise between a traditional flat pad and a more vertical stand product. It’s also priced right at just $19. It comes in blue, black, yellow, and red, which is a perfect price among wireless chargers.
Rodzon Car Holder and Wireless 2-in-1 Phone Mount
Wouldn’t it be great to have the convenience of charging your phone wirelessly while you’re driving? Well, Rodzon is selling a phone car mount that also happens to double as a wireless charging stand. The product comes with adapters that allow the mount to be placed on a car’s air vent, or on top of the front dashboard with a suction mount.
Connecting the mount to a car’s charging connection (or in newer vehicles via a USB port) allows it to also become a wireless charger for your smartphone. You can even remove the mount from the car after you get home from work and connect it to a wall outlet so that it can also serve as a more conventional wireless charging stand. Amazon is currently selling the Rodzon car phone holder and charger for $29.99.
Sojitek Wireless Charging Car Mount
Here’s another on our best wireless chargers list that can also double as a smartphone car mount. Sojitek’s product can be placed on a car’s dashboard or windshield and its ball join lets you adjust the angle of the phone, or even rotate it. It’s designed to fit any phone that has between a 3.5-inch to 5.8-inch display. It also connects to either your car’s charging connection or its USB port with its included micro USB cable.
This is a more expensive car holder and charger than the Rodzon product. Amazon is currently selling the Sojitek smartphone car mount and wireless charger for $49.99.
Ikea Nordmärke Triple Pad Wireless Charging Pad
Yes, Ikea is selling its own Qi-based wireless charging pad. The company best known for their DIY furniture products also sells this device. There are a couple of interesting features that make Ikea’s product stand out. One is its design, with its wood-like surface that allows it to blend in with other parts of the house. The other interesting part of the pad is that it’s large enough so you can place as many as three Qi-based phones on the pad and have them charge up at the same time.
As you might imagine, you will have to spend some extra money to get this Ikea pad. The cheapest price is about $114, but it can go even higher. If you want something cheaper, you can get a similar, but smaller, pad from Ikea that only charges one smartphone, but retains the wood-like finish, for $44.99.
