Virtual private networks (VPNs) are must-have tools to keep your internet browsing hidden and your personal information safe, which is why we asked you last week to tell us whether or not you use one.

Overall the results are good, but there is plenty of room for improvement. Check out the results below.

Results

Out of over 1,500 total votes, the results are clear — 58.5% of Android Authority readers use a VPN every single day. Congratulations! 58.% of you are responsible internet users. 21% of readers at least have a VPN installed, but they don’t use it. That’s at least better than the 20.5% of voters who don’t use a VPN at all.

Now, onto the good stuff. We also asked you to vote for the VPN you personally use on your devices. 39% voted in the “other” category, which means I missed a couple of popular VPNs when creating this poll. WHOOPs! Aside from that mixup, the #1 VPN is clear: 20.2% of voters use NordVPN. Second place is ExpressVPN with 11.5% of the votes, while ProtonVPN came in third with just 5.5% of the votes.

Noteworthy comments

Here are some of the best comments from last week’s poll explaining why they voted the way that they did:

  • Yup. I use ExpressVPN basically every day.
  • No. No reason. They just slow things down.
  • I use it as needed, like when I need access to resources on the other side of the VPN or if I’m on public WiFi… So “As Needed” would be my choice.
  • I moved to China a few years back, so… Yeah 😂

That’s it for this week, everyone. As always, thanks for voting, thanks for the comments, and don’t forget to let us know what you thought of the results below!
