Once you’ve finished downloading the app, you can either stream from Spotify’s massive library or tap into your local files. If you want to keep the entire experience free, you don’t even have to pay for a membership. Of course, Spotify Premium adds a few handy features like unlimited skips and no ads to the equation. It also makes it possible to download tunes for offline listening.

Spotify even offers personally curated playlists so you can enjoy a radio-like mix of all of your favorite artists. It even updates your daily mixes, well, daily, so that you can stay on top of your favorite songs.

VLC

VLC

VLC became one of the most popular PC players because of its comprehensive format support. If you have a file, it’s nearly guaranteed VLC can play it. It’s somewhat of an audio Swiss Army Knife, and it’s entirely free to download. Better yet, you can choose from the web app or a complete version built for PCs, smartphones, tablets, and more.

However, VLC may not be the music player for PC of choice if you don’t have an organized library. It tends to work best if you need a way to play the tunes you already have. With how many file types VLC supports, you should have no problem finding a way to use the service.

MusicBee

MusicBee

MusicBee is a great player for PC if you already have a massive collection of songs and want to condense it all into one place. No matter how large your library or where it comes from, MusicBee claims it can handle it all. It’s another completely free platform, and MusicBee sports a clean user interface that’s very easy to use.

It supports continuous playback, which is crucial for you Pink Floyd fans, but you can also add silences and even fades between songs. Like its competitors, MusicBee supports almost every file format you can think of, so nothing is off the table.

Another great feature is that MusicBee can sync between devices, and you can even use it to change music file formats.

Foobar2000

Foobar2000

It may look old-styled, but Foobar2000 is one of the most highly customizable music players for PC, and you can tinker with the menus and options to your heart’s content. It also supports almost every file type you can think of, even if the name sounds a bit like Dave Grohl’s favorite hangout.

Foobar2000 is a great music player if you like to rip songs off of CDs, too. It automatically detects metadata and can delete duplicates, so you don’t end up with the same song from four different albums. Foobar2000 is one of the lightest programs on this list, making it a great pick to fire up quickly. Once you fine-tune your interface, not much should stand in your way.

Aimp music player for PC

Aimp is one of the most continuously updated platforms on this list, resulting in a top music player.
