- The Apple HomeView costs $299 and is available for pre-order starting today, with retail availability on November 13.
Following months of speculation surrounding a Nest Hub rival smart home launch, Apple has officially taken the wraps off its long-rumored smart display, introducing the Apple HomeView alongside a branded line of first-party home accessories. Designed to serve as a central command station, the HomeView pairs dedicated home controls with Apple Intelligence and an updated, conversational Siri AI to anchor households directly into Apple’s software walled garden.

The Apple HomeView sports a 7-inch Liquid Retina display mounted on a domed speaker base via a stainless-steel tilt hinge. Under the hood, Apple has engineered an acoustic setup featuring two custom full-range drivers in the display, paired with a down-firing woofer and dual force-cancelling passive radiators in the base to deliver Spatial Audio.

For glanceability, the display automatically adjusts its brightness from a sunlight-friendly 500 nits down to 0.3 nits on a nightstand, while also scaling its interface density based on your proximity. Its marquee feature is multi-user facial recognition, which instantly switches profiles to reveal personalized calendars, reminders, and messages without requiring manual profile toggling.

Alongside the tabletop model, Apple is offering a dedicated wall-mounted edition, with three purpose-built mounts developed in collaboration with Schneider Home (sold separately).
Apple also revealed the Apple Home Collection: a suite of Matter-enabled cameras, video doorbells, smart locks, and thermostats built in partnership with LG and Schneider Electric.
Apple HomeView pricing and availability

The Apple HomeView costs $299 and is available for pre-order starting today, with general retail availability beginning November 13. The tabletop edition comes in four colors: silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray, each coming with a color-matched cable. The wall-mounted HomeView is available in space gray and silver.
How does Apple HomeView compete against Google’s ecosystem?
For those rooted in the Google ecosystem, the Apple HomeView immediately invites comparison to Google’s fractured smart home/smart display strategy. In many ways, the 7-inch form factor mirrors the compact footprint of the original Nest Hub, while adding video calling, facial recognition, and ambient tracking features popularized by the Google Nest Hub Max, which launched at $229.
However, Apple’s choice to keep the HomeView a fixed smart screen rather than a detachable iPad-like hybrid puts it in an interesting dynamic against the Google Pixel Tablet ($499 with dock). While Google envisioned the Pixel Tablet and its speaker dock as a dual-purpose gadget that could transition from a household entertainment device to a smart home hub, it often felt compromised in both roles.

Apple is betting on a purpose-built gadget instead: an always-docked display that focuses entirely on ambient glanceability, seamless Home app controls, and private local processing rather than doubling as an iPad. If you want a tablet, Apple has plenty of iPads it would be glad to sell you.
Whether Apple’s late arrival can displace established Google Home setups remains to be seen, particularly with the steep ecosystem lock-in required to make full use of Apple Intelligence. But for the first time in a long while,
