ANBERNIC's Switch Lite clone launches today for under $150

ANBERNIC has been teasing the RG 55G1 for a while now, and it bears more than a passing resemblance to the Nintendo Switch Lite. We’ve already seen the spec sheet, but we’ve finally got pricing.

The RG 55G1 launches today, and ANBERNIC has revealed a recommended price of $149.99 for the 4GB/64GB model and $174.99 for the 8GB/128GB variant.  However, the company is also offering a $10 discount on each model for the first three days. That means you’re paying $139.99 and $164.99, respectively.

You’re getting a decent amount of bang for your buck if you buy this handheld. Expect a lower-end Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 chipset with active cooling, 4GB to 8GB of RAM, 64GB to 128GB of storage, and a 5.5-inch IPS screen (16:9, 1080p). ANBERNIC is also bringing a 6,000mAh battery with 18W wired charging.

On the input front, you can expect a full suite of controls. That means dual Hall effect analog sticks, the usual D-pad and face button combo, and four shoulder buttons (including two Hall effect triggers). Other notable features include Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 5, a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm port, and ANBERNIC’s suite of AI tools (e.g., game translation, walkthrough retrieval).

The ANBERNIC RG 55G1 looks like a pretty capable Android handheld for the price. However, the system specs strongly suggest that, despite the design inspiration, you shouldn’t expect to emulate Nintendo Switch games.
