TL;DR
  • Amazon is raising prices across its hardware portfolio.
  • Some Echo devices are going up by $30, some Kindle models by $40, and some Fire TV stick and eero products are getting price bumps as well.
  • The company’s Ring products appear to be spared from the recent increases.

From phones to gaming handhelds, multiple industries continue to be impacted by the RAM crisis. In some cases, the situation has led companies to cancel products, and in others, we’ve seen price hikes. The latest entry in this ongoing saga involves Amazon and most of its hardware portfolio.

As reported by Fortune, Amazon has raised the prices for several of its first-party devices. The products affected by the price hike include Echo smart speakers, Kindle ereaders, Fire TV sticks, and eero wireless mesh routers. It appears that Ring products were spared from the recent increases.

Here’s what models were hit and how much they now cost:

  • Echo Dot: From $49.99 to $79.99
  • Echo Show 11: From $219.99 to $249.99
  • Kindle (16GB): From $109.99 to $149.99
  • Kindle Paperwhite (16GB): From $159.99 to $199.99
  • Fire TV Stick HD: From $34.99 to $39.99
  • Fire TV Stick 4K Max: From $59.99 to $84.99
  • eero 7: From $349.99 to $399.99
  • eero Pro 7: From $699.99 to $799.99

A spokesperson for the company confirms that the price increases are a direct result of the RAM crisis. The consumer electronics industry is “facing significant increases in memory and storage component costs,” Amazon’s spokesperson told the outlet. “After absorbing these increases for as long as we could, we recently adjusted pricing across our product lines.” The spokesperson added that Amazon plans to offer promotions across its lineup throughout the year.

This isn’t the only bad news we’ve recently received regarding Amazon devices. Last week, Kindle devices received two updates that increased enforcement of DRM and ended a popular book-borrowing loophole.
