Getting the most out of your technology is always best. One of the simplest, but best, ways to do that is to use smart home tech to make sure you’re getting up on time using your Amazon assistant. We will be telling you is how to create your own Alexa alarm clock with Echo smart speakers, or any other speaker that supports Alexa.

Yes yes, everyone can set an alarm but we’re not just talking about a basic alarm clock. You can set up Alexa to do a whole lot more than just wake you up with noise.

How to set an Alexa alarm

If you just want that classic alarm, it’s pretty easy. Say “Alexa, set an alarm for 7 am,” or whenever it is you want to wake up to your smart speaker. If you forget the “am,” Alexa will check in and make sure she knows what you need.

When the alarm goes off in the morning, just say “Alexa, turn off,” and that’s it. You’ve turned off your alarm. You also have the option to say, “Alexa, snooze,” to get an extra nine minutes of peaceful sleep. You can also set numerous alarms, and they won’t cancel each other out.

There are also some other alternatives to set up an Alexa alarm clock. If you prefer to wake up to music, Alexa can handle that. You can even pick the song, provided it’s available in your library or Spotify account, or whatever you have synced to Alexa. For example, say, “Alexa, wake me up to ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go’ by Wham! at 7 am,” or whatever song and time suits you.

You can also have Alexa wake you up to a radio station (using the TuneIn skill) or a specific news service. “Alexa, wake me up to KACL 780 at 7 am,” for example, or “Alexa, wake me up to NPR at 7 am.”

Create an Alexa morning routine

Feel free to get creative with how Alexa wakes you up by creating your own customized morning routine. If you have smart light bulbs installed, you could set up Alexa to turn your lights on when it’s time to wake up, setting the dimmer to slowly illuminate you as though the sun is rising in your own bedroom. You can set this up in combination with your Alexa alarm clock.

You can also set up a smart coffee maker to automatically turn on in the morning so you have one more thing to look forward to as you wake. The only limit is you. Include as many smart devices as you have connected to make your morning routine whatever you want it to be.
