Acer announces Predator gaming displays, laptops, and more at CES 2022

There's also a Nitro 5 redesign, and an updated Acer Swift X.

Acer revealed its new Chromebooks for 2022 yesterday, kicking off its CES 2022 reveals. Today, Acer is revealing a ton of gaming products including brand new Predator gaming displays, desktops, and laptops, with a Nitro 5 laptop refresh thrown in.

Aside from the Acer Predator 2022 lineup, the company is also updating some of its consumer offerings. The common factor across all the computer refreshes is the chip upgrade. You now get the brand new 12th-Gen Intel and AMD Ryzen 6000 series CPUs. Acer is also putting the focus on Mini-LED with its gaming displays this time around.

Predator gaming displays

Acer has three Predator gaming displays coming out. All three are positioned as gaming monitors, but one is a TV-sized gaming display.

Acer Predator X32 / X32 FP

The Acer Predator X32 series has two monitors. The Predator X32 and X32FP are both IPS Mini-LED monitors, with VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification, 576-zone local dimming, and a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. The X32 goes up to 160Hz via DisplayPort and comes with NVIDIA G-Sync Ultimate and NVIDIA Reflex. Meanwhile, the Predator X32 FP goes up to 165Hz and gets HDMI 2.1 in addition to DP. The X32 FP also gets a USB-C port with 90W power delivery.

Acer’s Predator X32 will be available in China first starting in Q2 2022, at a price of 12,999 Chinese yuan (~$2,046). North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa will get it in Q3 2022, starting at $1,999 / €1,899.

The Predator X32 FP will be available in China first as well, starting in March 2022 at 10,999 Chinese yuan (~$1,731). North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa availability is slated for Q2 2022, starting at $1,799 / €1,599.

The last gaming display Acer is launching today is one that it thinks can replace your TV. The Acer Predator CG48 is a 48-inch 4K OLED display with refresh rates going up to 138Hz. HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 are also onboard. You get AMD FreeSync Premium Pro for VRR.

The Predator CG48 will be available in China starting in Q2 2022 at 14,999 Chinese yuan ($2,360). North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa will get it in Q3 2022, starting at $2,499 / €2,199.

Next up are Acer’s Predator gaming desktops, with two new models being launched today.

Acer Predator Orion 5000

The Acer Predator Orion 5000 gaming desktop comes with up to a 12th-Gen Intel Core i7 processor with an Intel H670 chipset motherboard, and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPU. You can also configure it to have up to 64GB of 4,000MHz DDR5 memory and up to 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSDs. The Orion 5000 has a rather great-looking new full-tower chassis made out of darkened glass and metal mesh and comes with a fair amount of customizability.

The Predator Orion 5000 will go on sale first in China, starting in January, at 14,999 Chinese yuan ($2,360). North American availability is set for February priced at $2,599. Availability in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa is set for March, with the price set at €1,999.

The Predator Orion 3000 gaming desktop is a mid-tower system that also comes with up to a 12th-Gen Intel Core i7 processor. However, you get Intel’s B660 chipset here and GPU options max out at the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070. RAM options are up to 64GB of 3,200MHz DDR4 RAM, and storage includes a 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD and 6TB of SATA3 HDD.

The Predator Orion 3000 will be available in China, starting January, at 11,999 Chinese yuan (~$1,888). Following that, it will go on sale in North America in February at a price of $1,999. Europe, the Middle East, and Africa will get it in March 2022 starting at €1,299.

Acer has three new laptops for launch today. These are the refreshed models of some of Acer’s most popular Predator and Nitro gaming laptops.

Acer Predator Triton 500 SE (PT516-52s)

The Acer Predator Triton 500 SE is getting a special edition treatment with this refresh. You get a thin all-metal design and updated internals. It now gets up to a 12th-Gen Intel Core i9 processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU, and a 16-inch display running at a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 at 240Hz with a 3ms response time and G-Sync. There’s also up to 32GB of 5,200MHz LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 2TB of PCIe Gen-4 SSD storage. To top it off are USB 3.2 Gen-2, Thunderbolt 4, and HDMI 2.1 ports.

The Predator Triton 500 SE goes on sale in North America in March at $2,299, following its release in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and China in February at €3,499 / 24,999 Chinese yuan (~$3,934).

The Acer Predator Helios 300 has also been refreshed with new hardware. You get up to a 12th-Gen Intel Core i7 processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 or RTX 3070 Ti GPU. DDR5 memory is also on board, but you get only up to 32GB of 4,800MHz RAM. You also get up to 2TB of PCIe Gen-4 SSD storage. Rounding it up is a 15.6-inch display running at a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 at 165Hz. Acer will also sell a 17.3-inch model with the choice between a Full HD screen with 144 or 165Hz refresh rates, or a QHD panel with a 165Hz refresh rate.

The Predator Helios 300 will be available in North America in May at $1,649 following its release in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and China in February, starting at €2,299 / 11,999 Chinese yuan (~$1,888).

The Acer Nitro 5 is one of the most popular laptops from the company, and it’s getting a redesign as well as a spec upgrade. You can now choose from a huge number of configurations featuring choices between the 12th-Gen Intel Core i7 processor or AMD Ryzen 6000 Series processor. You also get up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GPU. RAM options are up to 32GB DDR4-3200 for the Intel models and up to 32GB of DD5-4800 RAM for the AMD models. Display options include a Full HD 144Hz panel and a QHD 165Hz panel, with the AMD models getting AMD FreeSync.

The Intel model of the Nitro 5 will be available in North America in March at $1,049, following its release in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and China in February, starting at €1,549 / 9,499 Chinese yuan (~$1,495).

The AMD model of the Nitro 5 will go on sale a little later in April in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at $1,099 / €1,599. This will follow its release in China in March at 8,999 Chinese yuan (~$1,416).

Acer consumer PCs

Acer also has a couple of upgrades to its consumer PCs in the Swift and Aspire series. The pricing and availability details for these systems will arrive later.

Acer Swift X

Acer’s ultra-portable Swift X laptop is getting an upgrade to include the latest 12th-Gen Intel Core processor. The 14-inch model gets a 16:10 display running at 2,240 x 1,400 resolution with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU.

The 16-inch model comes with a 16:10 panel as well running at 2,560 x 1,600 and Intel’s brand new Arc Graphics. Both models get LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB of PCIe SSD storage with one Gen-4 and one Gen-3 slot. Both models also get a 59WHr battery with the 14-inch model weighing in at 1.4kg (~3.1lbs), while the 16-inch model weighs 1.79kg (~3.95lbs). The Acer Swift X comes with advanced cooling features.

Acer’s more grounded all-in-one (AIO) PCs are also getting an upgrade. You get Full HD touch displays, up to 12th-Gen Intel Core i7 processors, and the latest NVIDIA GeForce MX550 GPU. This is backed by 64GB of DDR4 RAM and a 1TB PCIe Gen-3 SSD along with a 2TB HDD.

All of Acer’s new PC offerings will ship with Windows 11 onboard.
