Samsung galaxy S7 edge waterproof

One of the biggest upgrades rumored to be coming to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge is water resistance. Now a video and teaser site published by Samsung’s Indonesian branch confirm the feature.

The video ad, starring Indonesian athlete Dellie Threesyadinda, shows what appears to be the Galaxy S7 Edge being used in heavy rain. We assume that we’re looking at Samsung’s next flagship, though there are no obvious differences between the phone in the ad and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. The 2015 S6 Edge Plus is not waterproof, however, so unless Samsung is playing fast and loose with its marketing, the mystery phone can only be the Galaxy S7 Edge.

The unlisted video is embedded on this teaser site put up by Samsung Indonesia, that contains a handful of clues about the Next Galaxy’s hero features. Samsung will promote the S7’s privacy (“Experience privacy at its finest”), design (“Meet the irresistible”), water resistance (“Worry-less discovery”), and camera (“Bring light to the night”).

The outline of a phone surrounded by bubbles further confirms the presence of water resistance, a feature that Samsung introduced on the Galaxy S5, but then abandoned on the Galaxy S6 and other 2015 flagships. The video also confirms wireless charging.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will be introduced to the world this Sunday, ahead of MWC Barcelona. Samsung will reportedly allow customers to pre-order the new devices right away, with a free Gear VR headset bundled in.

Thoughts on this? Are you excited about water resistance making a comeback?

  • Žiga Štupar

Well it could be S7 Edge

  • nikolas ostropolskiy

Judging by the size of those bezels, the placement of the camera, and the glossy rather than flat silver color…thats an S6 Edge getting abused.

  • yui calia

    Unleash the Beast!!!

  • Chris Gabriel

Definitely that’s the S6 edge plus but Samsung just wanted to give us a slight glimpse to what’s coming, i really doubt the S7 edge will look exactly as the S6 edge…

  • Steve Brain

Upgrades? How is it an upgrade when they removed it from the S6, and are now bringing it back to meet the standards set by the S5? It’s just a “Okay, we’re going to stop fucking with you now”

    • JDMillest

Blame the consumer because the S5 didn’t sell like hot cakes. Hahaha If it did I think it would of continue to the s6.

    • retrospooty

Technically with regards to water resistance, the S6 was a downgrade from the S5 and the S7 would be an upgrade from the S6. Of course… marketing.

    • SnakeSplitskin

I still think the LG G4 with its removable battery and SD card is still a downgrade just like the S5 vs. the S6/Edge/Plus and Note 5. Such plasticky awfulness and bizarre UI/software experience on the G4 & S5. So yeh, the S7/Edge will be a definite upgrade.

That’s funny she and coach watching images of herself. Lame

  • retrospooty

Great combo of features on this phone. Nothing amazing, but having a 5.5 inch phone with a 3500mah battery, water resistance and SD will make alot of people happy. That and compared to the S6 it should be more efficient with this years CPU’s… This may be the one.

  • Shubham Pawar

On the bottom of the Teaser site it says ‘THE SCENE IN THE VIDEO IS FOR DRAMATIZATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS PRODUCT IS NOT WATER RESISTANT AND IT SHOULD NOT BE EXPOSED TO AND/OR SUBMERGED INTO WATER/LIQUID.’

    Curious, isn’t it?
