Verizon is rolling out the first software update to the LG G6. Before you get too excited, let me just point out that it doesn’t bring any new features to the table. Nevertheless, it is still a very important update, as it has the April security patch on board.

It contains a large number of important fixes, which should make your smartphone just a little safer to use. In addition to the latest security patch, the update also adds a couple of new safety measures.

If the G6 detects moisture in the USB port, a notification will pop up saying that you should immediately stop charging the device. The smartphone can now also offer you instructions on how to protect the SIM card slot from possible water damage.

As mentioned, Verizon is currently rolling out the update, so it might already be available for your G6. You can check to see if you have already received it by heading into the device’s settings. If you have, do make sure you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network before you download it to avoid any potential charges from your carrier.
