You probably heard the news yesterday that the OnePlus X is finished. Well, that’s not entirely true. While OnePlus sent emails to several people who had ordered a OnePlus X and told them that OPX stocks were depleted and there were no plans to replenish them, that’s not the whole story. Here’s what’s really going on with the OnePlus X.

There is still stock of the OnePlus X on hand, but the device’s days are definitely numbered (the company has already confirmed there will be no OnePlus X2). We reached out to OnePlus and received the following statement:

We will have limited stock of the OnePlus X Ceramic and Onyx available over the next few months. The OnePlus X Champagne has already sold out and will not be replenished. Stay tuned to our forums for updates, and rest assured that we will continue supporting the OnePlus X as we do all of our other phones.

So there you have it. The OPX in Champagne is done for, but you can still get your hands on a Onyx or Ceramic version “over the next few months”. That should be plenty of time for those sitting on the fence to pick one up. The assurance of continued support should put some concerns to rest, although OnePlus’ software support isn’t exactly world-renowned. But at least we should see Marshmallow roll out for the OPX before it shuffles off this mortal coil.

Do you have or want a OnePlus X? Do you hope to see its return in better times?
