Having clearly missed its first quarter release target, OnePlus One owners have probably become a little concerned about the state of the Android Marshmallow update that they were promised. There’s some sort-of good news today though, as company co-founder Carl Pei has announced that the update is now in the “final stages” of testing.

While the update sounds like it is very nearly ready for a public release, Pei unfortunately did not go so far as to commit the company to another release date. Citing dependency on “other parties,” Pei notes that the update will be arriving very soon, but it’s still unclear exactly how much longer OnePlus One owners will have to wait.

Marshmallow for the One is in the final testing stage. Can’t give ETA as it depends on other parties, but should be very soon.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update was originally promised for OnePlus One owners back in November last year, with a target release date penned in for the first quarter of 2016. Unlike for the OnePlus Two, there isn’t a Marshmallow beta program to hop on into to satisfy that update desire, but at least customers know that the phone hasn’t been forgotten about.
