After parting ways with Microsoft, Nokia has spent a great deal of the Finnish company’s focus on Android apps. The main byproducts of this focus have been the Nokia Z Launcher and the Android version of HERE Maps, the latter of which originally arrived to Android in partnership with Samsung and only for select Samsung devices.

Thankfully in October, Nokia was kind enough to release the the HERE APK for any Android user that wished to manually install the app. Still haven’t tried the navigation app out for whatever reason? Nokia is making it even easier to use HERE, as the app has officially arrived to Google Play.

While Google Maps remains one of the very best navigation apps out there, Nokia HERE is a very compelling alternative and has managed to attract a rather loyal following. From my own experience with it after sideloading earlier this year, I found the app to generally be as a accurate to use as Google’s own offering, but with the addition of critically acclaimed free offline viewing and navigation modes for entire regions (countries, continents, etc).

For those interested in giving Nokia HERE a try, the app is available in 118 countries, though some of the more remote locations only have partial coverage. It is worth mentioning that the app is still considered a BETA, though stability hasn’t really been an issue for most users.

For those regularly using HERE Maps on Android, what made you switch? Let us know in the comments.
