According to a new report, Google said the delay for the Android 7.1.1. Nougat update for the Nexus 6 was due to “a last minute bug that was specific” to that particular device. There’s no word on what kind of bug was causing the delay but the company added that issue has since been fixed, so the OTA update will commence very soon. It’s likely that the update isn’t being pushed out now due to the current holiday time period.

Since the Nexus 6 was first launched in November 2014, it’s also likely that the Android 7.1.1. Nougat update could be the last major one for the smartphone, aside from monthly security patches. Even with its slower rollout, the Nexus 6 will still be one of the few smartphones that are currently active with any form of Nougat at all, much less one with the latest version.

We’re still not sure of an exact date that the Nexus 6 will get its update, but we’ll be sure to keep you informed.
