Today an Intel executive told IDG News that the chip-making giant has ported the Android smartphone operating system to run on its line of low-power Atom processors, the same processors that run in many netbooks.
This, of course, isn’t the first time somebody has ported Android to run on Intel’s architecture, but it’s noteworthy since it is Intel doing the porting. The company obviously is envious of ARM’s near stranglehold on smartphones and would like to get in on the action.
