Whether you’re using mobile data when travelling abroad or have a limited amount of data included in your plan, managing when you’re using your mobile data can be the difference between a worry-free bill and bill-shock. Thankfully, Android smartphones make it easy to turn mobile data and data roaming on or off, so here’s the steps you need to perform:

How to turn mobile data on or off with the HTC10

There are two ways to turn mobile data on or off with the HTC10, one very simple and the other slightly longer:

Method 1: The Quick and Easy method

  1. Scroll down from the top of your phone to access the notification menu.
  2. Scroll down again to access the quick settings menu
  3. Tap on mobile data to turn it on or off

Method 2: the full method

  1. From your device’s home screen, open the app drawer
  2. Open the Settings app
  3. Tap the toggle next to mobile data to turn it on or off

How to enable or disable data roaming on the HTC10

By default, all Android smartphones ship with data roaming disabled – in order to prevent unnecessary charges and bill-shock – so if you go away and your data roaming isn’t working, this’ll be the first thing you want to try:

  1. From your device’s home screen, open the app drawer
  2. Open the Settings app
  3. Tap mobile data
  4. Check the box next to Data Roaming to turn it on (and uncheck to turn off)
