At last. Google Maps has finally gained the ability to add multiple locations when getting directions. That means if you’re on your way somewhere but need to stop at a pharmacy, gas station or friend’s house on the way, you can plug all those destinations in at once and get a route that swings by them all.

While you may think it has something to do with incredibly complex calculations and whatnot, Google Maps on desktop has had the functionality forever. And lord knows modern flagships are more powerful than half the aging desktops out there.

When adding a destination in Maps, you can now add as many waypoints along the way as you like. Just enter a destination, tap the overflow menu and select “Add stop”. Each destination will be assigned a letter of the alphabet and appear on the displayed route when you hit “Done”. You can add as many waypoints as you like and drag to rearrange their order.

It’s nothing revolutionary in terms of content, just that it is now available on mobile (I can’t remember the last time I took my desktop with me on a road trip). The feature is rolling out now as part of Google Maps 9.31 but appears to be a server-side change.

Howe long have you been waiting for this feature on mobile?
