Some people are just really enthusiastic about showing their burning passion for a certain cartoon, anime, TV series, or movie. Certain people fill their room with official merchandise while others launch their careers as writers or artists by writing or drawing their favorite characters in every single one of their pieces. There’s no limit to how you can express your love. If you’re a huge fan of something but you don’t quite have the drive to purchase every bit of official and unofficial merchandise you can get your hands on and you don’t have the talent to contribute fan-made things, don’t despair. There’s another way you can show your enthusiasm and enjoy your favorite show on your Android device.

Though they were mainly launched as marketing tactics, some official movie games give fans a way to enjoy their favorite movie in a whole different way. In fact, some people who have never heard of the movies these games were based on ended up falling in love with the source material through playing these games. Finding them on the Google Play Store can be a little bit of a challenge, so we went ahead and looked for the best movie games available for Android devices. Though there are quite a number on the Google Play Store, only a few really stood out.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Master of the Seas

Practically everyone has heard of the charismatic, if not hilariously drunk, Captain Jack Sparrow. Spanning over four movies, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise introduced us to a world where pirates roamed the seven seas and X marks the spot. The franchise however all originated in the 1967 theme ride attraction of the same name, the last Disney theme park attraction that was overseen by Walt Disney himself. It didn’t take long before the franchise expanded to include spinoff novels and numerous video games. One of them is available for both Android and iOS devices.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Master of the Seas lets you take your social gaming experience to a whole new level by combining a deep story with gorgeous graphics and compelling social gameplay. You can become a pirate and build your own ship, gather your crew, and embark on quests. Playing this game certainly isn’t lonely because you can invite your friends to expand your crew and become even stronger. With your strength, battle other pirates to gain rewards and increase your standing. Fully arm your ship by purchasing cannons, weapons, amulets and upgrades. Fully prepared, explore exotic lands and buy properties.

Men in Black 3

Who can forget the Earth’s best, last, and only hope for protection against the literal scum of the universe? The first Men in Black film debuted in 1997 and maybe of us, just youngsters at the time, may never forget the grotesque cockroach alien, the tiny man piloting a human-shaped vessel, and naturally, the talking dog. Don’t let the agency find out because you might just find yourself neuralyzed. Fans of the Men in Black franchise enjoyed the third movie just this 2012, but the franchise certainly didn’t limit itself to the big screen. It also has a television series under its belt and a couple of video games, but did you know that it actually had its origins in comic books?

Sharing a name with the most recent film, Men in Black 3 is a game for your Android device that puts you in charge of the Men in Black organization. It’s your job to train agents and assign them to missions. Don’t worry, you won’t be sending them out empty-handed. Equip them with a wide range of standard and not-so-standard weapons such as the Neuralyzer, the Deatomizer, and the infamous Noisy Cricket. Build, expand, and develop your agency and your weapons collection so you can travel through time to fight aliens in the different areas of New York City.

Don’t worry, you won’t be facing the aliens alone. Invite your friends from Gameloft LIVE! and Facebook to watch your back.

Ice Age Village

When we say the words “Ice Age,” a certain selection of people will think of the time when the world was covered in ice and dinosaurs struggled to survive. Another group of people, however, will be thinking of more or less the same thing, but also about a hilarious animal chasing after his acorn, a sloth who won’t stop talking, a mammoth, and a tiger. With four movies of its own and the latest just out this 2012, Ice Age also has a series of short films and television specials. Now this crew of animals has come to your Android device.

In Ice Age Village, Manny, Diego, Ellie, and Sid decide to build a new village for their displaced friends after Scrat’s acorn has opened a crack in the earth’s crust. Work hard and build the most beautiful village for all of the crew’s friends and family. Level up so you can gain access to new animal species, cool buildings, and unique decorations. You’ll not only be able to interact with your favorite Ice Age characters, you’ll also go on funny quests and missions. You can even play mini-games featuring Scrat.

The Green Hornet Crime Fighter

Let’s take a break from social gaming for a moment and immerse ourselves in a good old-fashioned fighting-style game. Though a lot of the younger generation may be familiar with the 2011 movie with Seth Rogen and Jay Chou filling in the roles of the Green Hornet and Kato respectively, the franchise started way back in 1936. What started out as a radio program soon evolved into TV series, comic books, movies, and more. It’s now expanded to include an Android game named The Green Hornet Crime Fighter so you can help the Green Hornet and Kato defend their city against ruthless gangsters.

The controls are all on the screen, with the basic direction pad located on the bottom left side of the screen and the various attacks on the right. It isn’t all about mashing the virtual buttons and whittling your opponent’s health down to zero. Between each battle, the loading screen will give you special move combos. Execute those combos for more damage.

You’ll need to install Adobe AIR if you haven’t yet, you’ll need to if you want to play this game on your Android device.

Piranha 3DD: The Game

After seeing the Piranha movies, you’ll definitely  think twice about getting into the water. The original Piranha movie was released in 1978 and received an upgrade in the 2010 Piranha 3D. The 2012 movie, Piranha 3DD, is not just double the D’s, it’s also double the action and double the terror. What do animals do when they find that their food source has dried up? They look for more sources of food, naturally.

Based on the recent movie of the same name, Piranha 3DD: The Game puts you in the role of the bloodthirsty and very hungry school of prehistoric piranhas. After the terror that these creatures unleashed on Lake Victoria, they now have found their way into the Big Wet Water Park and are planning to sink their teeth into delicious human flesh. Players can enjoy chomping away on both small fish and humans to reach higher scores and multipliers. Though nothing can stop the piranhas’ razor sharp teeth, there’s prey out there that will fight back. Watch out for poisonous jellyfish and exploding oil drums. Grow your school of killers by collecting eggs.

Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty

Though Captain America isn’t a new kid on the block, newer generations were certainly in for a treat when they not only saw Chris Evans play America’s hero in the character’s origin movie but also alongside other powerful heroes in The Avengers. There’s no denying that watching Captain America inspires a little patriotism in the viewer. Equipped with his shield and his superhuman strength and speed, Captain America raced through the chaos of World War II and went up against Red Skull and his HYDRA.

In Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty, you’ll take control of Steve Rogers as he races to save Falsworth, Dum Dum Dugan, and Bucky. The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicon

Let’s step away from superheroes, pirates, animals, and carnivorous fish for a moment and go on an adventure of a different sort with Tintin and his dog Snowy. This young journalist may be perhaps be one of the earliest franchises available on this list. Tintin, Snowy and the rest of the cast first appeared in 1907 in comic books created by Georges Remi who wrote under the name HergĂ©. The comic series’ well-researched plots covered swashbuckling adventures, mystery, political thrillers, and science fiction. Just recently, Tintin and Snowy stepped out of colorful comic pages and into gorgeous 3D on both the big screen and your Android device.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicon puts you in the role of our eponymous hero as he sneaks his way past guards, engages in thrilling sword fights, piloting a plane, solving a puzzle and racing a camel. But, it isn’t just Tintin you’ll be able to control. There are parts of the game where you’ll take Tintin’s trusted sidekick Snowy’s reins, perpetually drunken Captain Haddock, and his ancestor, the legendary Sir Francis Haddock.

Truffula Shuffula – The Lorax

Though the movie The Lorax only recently graced our cinemas, this creature and his tale is far from new. This children’s book was written by Dr. Seuss and first published in 1972. On the surface, it may have dazzled children with its rhymes but it actually told the plight of the environment and the Lorax who spoke for the dying trees against the greedy Once-ler. In the same year it was published, the Lorax and his enemy, the Once-ler appeared on TV screens. It was only in 2012 that this tale became a 3D film, reminding all of us that greed eventually leads to the dwindling health of nature.

Now both adults and children can play a more lighthearted game named Truffula Shuffula – The Lorax for their Android devices. Take on the role of the eponymous Lorax and create colorful clusters of three or more objects. If you’re familiar with other matching object games such as Bejeweled, this is a fun twist on the game type. Each object is distinct, which makes playing Truffula Shuffula easy for all ages. If you’re stuck, you can hit the Shuffula button to shuffle objects but if you want to wake yourself up a little, shake your phone. That’ll really get those truffulas and other objects jumbled up.
