While waiting for a potential Android Lollipop update to arrive, Verizon Galaxy Note 3 owners can at least enjoy an update to Android 4.4.4. The software update is rolling out over-the-air right now.

Version N900VVRUDNJ6 isn’t just the small 4.4.4 patch update that we’ve seen with some other handsets. Samsung and Verizon have packed in a good number of new features and improvements with this update. LTE connectivity, voice reception and sound quality have all apparently been improved. VPN, SMS, and Bluetooth audio bugs have also been squashed.

Verizon has also packed in some new software options with version 4.4.4. Samsung’s Knox encryption app has been updated to the latest 2.0 version, and Kid’s Mode is now also included. There’s a new virtual tour camera mode, Side Sync call forwarding option, and Softcard payments have also been updated, along with a few others. We’d be interested to know whether this “performance update” includes the suspicious DT Ignite app that has apparently been bothering other Verizon, and some T-Mobile, customers with bloatware app downloads.

As usual, feel free to give the manual update button a tap if you haven’t already received an OTA notification.
