Tech Crunch has turned up some screen shots from the upcoming Android 2.2 OS (code named Froyo) that show built-in support for USB tethering and the use of the Android device as a Wi-Fi hotspot for the sharing of its data connectivity.
I think it is quite likely that we will see some carriers disabling this functionality in shipping phones, but surely some will allow it.
Google’s I/O event is only days away, so we’re very likely going to see the the official Android 2.2 unveiling at that time, and maybe even on a new device.
