Your broken YouTube feed should finally be back to normal

YouTube hasn’t exactly had the smoothest few days on mobile. Just last week, some Galaxy phone owners reported videos freezing after switching away from the app and returning. Then, over the weekend, another problem began causing parts of YouTube’s mobile feeds to look as if someone had forgotten to load content. But the good news is that YouTube now says it has fixed that issue.

YouTube had acknowledged that some Android and iOS users were seeing missing video thumbnails and large blank spaces while scrolling through the Home, Subscriptions, and profile feeds. In some cases, videos, Shorts, and posts were replaced with black gaps or gray placeholder boxes, even though the app’s navigation bars and icons continued to load normally.

While YouTube investigated, it suggested updating the mobile app as a temporary workaround, noting that some affected users reported that installing the latest version cleared the display problems. Today, YouTube updated its support notice to say the issue is fixed and that thumbnails and other content should load normally again while scrolling.

There is one extra step worth trying if your feed still looks broken, though. YouTube recommends force-quitting the app and reopening it. In other words, completely close YouTube from your recent apps screen rather than simply returning to your home screen, then launch it again.

YouTube hasn’t explained what caused the feed-loading issue or whether the fix required an app update or a server-side change. But if you spent part of the weekend staring at empty spaces where your recommendations should have been, your feed should be back to normal now.
