Xiaomi Watch S1 packs a sapphire glass lens, 12-day battery life, and more

After publishing several teasers, Xiaomi has now officially launched its new premium smartwatch. The Xiaomi Watch S1 joins the Xiaomi 12 series as the company’s pinnacle mobile device heading into 2022.
Xiaomi emphasizes the use of lofty materials on the Watch S1, from the sapphire glass display and calf-leather strap to the stainless steel body. Overall, it’s a pretty large smartwatch packing a 1.43-inch AMOLED display.
While the wearable is primarily geared towards business people, the Watch S1 supports 117 sports modes, with GNSS positioning for outdoor activity tracking. Xiaomi notes the watch packs 24/7 health management but doesn’t elaborate on the device’s sensors or monitoring smarts. Nevertheless, it features 5ATM water resistance for avid swimmers and 12-day battery life for road warriors. Wireless charging smarts add to the device’s convenience.

Xiaomi Watch S1: Pricing and availability
Despite its build, Xiaomi Watch S1 doesn’t run too expensive, with a relatively modest 1,099 yuan (~$173) sales tag. There’s no word on its global availability, but those in China can grab one from December 31, 2021.
