TL;DR
  • Xiaomi announces global availability of the Smart Band 7 Pro.
  • The smartwatch-like fitness tracker adds built-in GPS and a roomy screen to the Mi Band line.

After launching the product in China in July, Xiaomi finally announced the global rollout of the Smart Band 7 Pro.

Also known as the Mi Band 7 Pro, the wearable is a little more smartwatch than fitness tracker. It packs a much larger 1.64-inch AMOLED screen compared to its namesake, with a revised UI, always-on display capabilities, and a convenient ambient light sensor that adjusts screen brightness on the fly.

Its fitness tracking kit includes all-day SpO2 and heart rate monitoring, built-in GPS that should appeal to runners, and 117 sport tracking modes that might interest particularly fussy users. There’s also an on-device running coach which gives users of varying experiences a choice of ten pre-planned programs to build stamina or improve performance.

Other niceties include a 5ATM water resistance rating for swimmers and up to 12 days of battery life for those who forget to charge their band. Those who really push the product can reportedly expect just under a week of endurance.

The Smart Band 7 Pro is everything Mi Band fans have clamored for in previous iterations. But all these upgrades come at a steeper price.

The Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro goes on sale in Europe for €99 (~$97) from the company’s various sales channels. In comparison, you can find the stock Mi Band 7 for around €55 (~$54). Whether you feel that ~80% premium is valid, the Smart Band 7 Pro’s price puts it up against the established competition in the form of the Fitbit Inspire 3.
