Xiaomi packs 50MP camera, 90Hz screen, and a big battery in latest budget phone
- Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 10 Prime and Redmi earbuds 3 Pro in India.
- The budget phone brings the series’ first 50MP camera.
- It also gets a larger battery than the global Redmi 10 variant.
Xiaomi launched the Redmi 10 globally just a while back and it has now followed up with a slightly tweaked version of the budget phone in the form of the Redmi 10 Prime.
The new Redmi has launched in the Indian market, carrying almost all the same specs as its global cousin. This means you get the MediaTek Helio G88 processor on board. At the back, you get a 50MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP camera setup. It’s a big upgrade from the 13MP shooter on the Redmi 9 Prime. The other three sensors in the lineup will give you ultra-wide, macro, and depth shooting capabilities. There’s also an 8MP selfie snapper placed within the front punch-hole.
Speaking of the display, the Redmi 10 Prime promises a 90Hz adaptive refresh rate on the 6.5-inch FHD+ LCD display. Although, the screen will switch to a 60Hz refresh rate for video streaming.
Complementing the high refresh rate for when you’re gaming or scrolling is a 6,000mAh battery, 1,000mAh more than the global Redmi 10 variant. This is the only change the Redmi 10 Prime brings to the table in India.
Elsewhere, you get 18W charging on board. The phone also supports 9W reverse charging that enables you to charge your Redmi Earbuds, Redmi band, or Bluetooth speakers. A 22.5W charger is included in the box.
The phone also features a 3.5mm headphone jack, 4/6GB RAM options, 64/128GB storage variants expandable using a dedicated MicroSD slot, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The device runs MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11.
The Redmi 10 Prime is priced in India at Rs 12,499 (~$171) for the 4GB/64GB model and Rs 14,499 (~$198) for the 6GB/128GB version.
It will be available starting September 7 on Amazon, Mi.com, and Mi Home stores.
Redmi Earbuds 3 Pro
Besides the Redmi 10 Prime, Xiaomi also launched the Redmi Earbuds 3 Pro in India. The true wireless earbuds feature a Qualcomm chipset and bring support for aptX Adaptive codec.
They come with a 43mAh battery in each bud and a charging case that provides another 600mAh worth of juice. Xiaomi says the buds can last for seven hours of standalone use. With the charging case, you can take it up to 30 hours of music playback.
The Redmi Earbuds 3 Pro also feature an IPX4 rating for resistance to water splashes. They are priced at Rs 2,999 (~$41).
