Xiaomi takes on OnePlus with a new affordable 40-inch Android TV
- Xiaomi has launched a new 40-inch Full HD Android TV in India.
- It’s priced at Rs 23,999 and takes on the OnePlus TV 40Y1 which is slightly cheaper.
Xiaomi has added a new, affordable Android TV to its portfolio. The Mi TV 4A 40 Horizon Edition is a direct competitor to the OnePlus TV 40Y1 that was unveiled just a few days back.
The new 40-inch Full HD Xiaomi TV boasts a bezel-less design with a metal frame surrounding the 60Hz display. The firm says it has a 93.7% screen-to-body ratio, the same as OnePlus’ model.
In terms of software, the Mi TV 4A 40 Horizon Edition runs on Android 9 out of the box. Xiaomi also layers its own PatchWall UI on top for personalization so you can either use that or the standard Android TV UI.

Sound on the Xiaomi Mi TV 4A 40 is handled by 20W stereo speakers.
The port selection includes a 3.5mm audio out, an optical audio port, an AV port, one ethernet port, two USB ports, and three HDMI ports. You also get 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity on the TV.
Under the hood, you get the Amlogic Cortex A53 quad-core processor and the Mali 450 MP3 GPU. These are accompanied by 1GB RAM and 8GB storage.
The TV also supports the Mi Quick Wake feature that lets you resume watching your shows in five seconds.
Xiaomi Mi TV 4A 40 Horizon Edition price and availability
The Mi TV 4A 40 Horizon Edition is priced at Rs 23,999 (~$329). In comparison, the OnePlus TV 40Y1 with almost identical specs costs a bit less at Rs 21,999 (~$301).
The new Xiaomi TV will be available through mi.com, Mi Home, Flipkart, Mi Studio, and retail partner stores starting June 2.
