Xbox Cloud Gaming is coming to Samsung smart TVs
- Xbox Cloud Gaming is coming to Samsung smart TVs.
- Gamers will be able to play their favorite games on their TVs without a dedicated console.
- Microsoft plans to bring the service to additional TV brands in the future.
Gamers on Samsung smart TVs are about to gain easier access to Xbox Cloud Gaming, with Microsoft and Samsung partnering to provide the service directly on Samsung’s TVs.
Xbox Cloud Gaming is Microsoft’s gaming service that allows users to play their favorite Xbox games over the internet, using almost any modern smartphone, tablet, console, or computer. The service allows gamers to get in on the action without the need to purchase a dedicated Xbox. Microsoft and Samsung are now bringing the service to the latter’s smart TVs.
Bringing Xbox Cloud Gaming to smart TVs is a logical choice. Smart TVs have become increasingly complex, capable devices, running webOS, Android, or other full-fledged operating systems. As a result, smart TVs have eliminated the need for dedicated streaming boxes for many users, and may similarly eliminate the need for dedicated gaming consoles for all but the most avid gamer.

According to Microsoft, gamers on Samsung’s smart TVs will have access to more than 100 games, including the ability to play Fortnite without a membership. Users will simply need to access the Xbox app, log into their Microsoft account, sign up for the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, connect their favorite wireless controller to the TV, and start gaming.
While Samsung’s TVs may be the first to gain access to Xbox Cloud Gaming, Microsoft says it is working with other TV manufacturers to bring the service to additional brands. In the meantime, the service will be available on this year’s Samsung TVs on June 30, 2022.
