CES 2019 officially starts today, but the real show began days earlier with the first slew of announcement-packed CES 2019 press conferences from the consumer tech industry’s biggest names.
In this article we’re running down the top five CES 2019 press conferences of this year’s show.
You’ll also find a full CES 2019 keynote schedule for all the major players so you don’t miss any news!
Where available, we’ve embedded livestream links for each conference and a quick summary of what went down.
LG CES 2019: Press conference livestream and recap
LG is saving its phone announcements for MWC 2019. Instead, the company’s big reveal was the LG Signature OLED TV R — a TV with a rollable OLED display that hides inside the stand when you’re not watching.
As well as other TV-related announcements, LG also showcased its new smart alerts system for home appliances and a (very cool) smart beer maker.
Samsung CES 2019: Press conference livestream and recap
The Samsung Galaxy S10 is on ice until MWC, but Samsung had plenty to show at its CES 2019 press conference.
Samsung unveiled a huge 98-inch QLED 8K TV to Las Vegas with HDMI 2.1 support, confirmed that its smart TVs will soon offer iTunes movies and TV shows and support Airplay 2, and announced that you’ll also be able to control Samsung smart TVs via Google Assistant- or Amazon Alexa-powered devices.
New smart fridges and robots also debuted, as well as the Notebook 9 Pen and a brand new Odyssey gaming laptop.
Intel CES 2019: Press conference livestream and recap
Intel’s CES 2019 press conference centered on its new Ice Lake laptop chips. Intel also announced a 10nm Snow Ridge SoC for 5G base stations, and 10nm Cascade Lake Xeon and 10nm Lakefield processors.
In summary: a lot of “10nm.”
Sony CES 2019: Press conference livestream and recap
Sony revealed its first 8K TV sets, some new 4K TVs, and a whole bunch of audio products at CES 2019, but generally spent most of its press conference patting itself on the back for being just so really awesome, you guys.
Movies, PlayStation, audio — all of Sony’s greatest achievements of the past year or so were talked up. As you might expect, Sony’s struggling mobile division wasn’t mentioned.
Nvidia CES 2019: Press conference livestream and recap
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced that more than 40 new laptops will arrive later this month packing the company’s new GeForce RTX 20 series discrete graphics processors. Nvidia also revealed it’s working on drivers to support A-Sync monitors.
