Vivo was amongst the first smartphone brands to make a move towards pop up selfie cameras with the launch of the vivo NEX in 2018. It appears that the company wants to take the concept mainstream with the launch of the upcoming vivo V15 Pro.

As vivo gears up to launch the V15 Pro in India later this month, it has started hyping up the phone on social media. A teaser clip released on YouTube earlier today reaffirmed some of the rumors floating around, including that it would house a pop-up selfie camera.

First seen on the vivo Apex last year and subsequently, on the vivo NEX, the V15 Pro is expected to bring the innovative notch-avoiding concept at a lower price point. The teaser video also points at the phone having a 32MP front-facing camera. Allegedly, a world first.

A beauty shot of the rear of the phone points at a three camera combination. According to MySmartPrice, the phone will employ a 48MP+8MP+5MP camera set up. The primary sensor will, of course, be the 48-megapixel sensor that will use pixel binning to improve low light capabilities and dynamic range. The remaining cameras might be used for a combination of telephoto, wide angle or depth sensing.

Specifications for the phone leaked earlier on Geekbench and suggest that the phone will have a Snapdragon 675 chipset. This is believed to be paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Not to forget, the phone eschews a traditional fingerprint scanner for an in-display unit. The vivo V15 Pro will be powered by a 3,700 mAh battery.

vivo is said to be pricing the V15 Pro aggressively and MySmartPrice suggests that the phone might retail at around rupees 33,000 (~$465). We think vivo will have to undercut competitors like the OnePlus 6T and the HONOR View 20 by a wide margin to gain traction for the V15 Pro.
