Verizon revamps its (totally not) unlimited plans, cuts prices a bit

Verizon announced today that it is slightly tweaking its four primary unlimited mobile plans. Although the company is making its plans slightly cheaper, which is nice, it isn’t actually making any of the “Verizon Unlimited” plans actually, you know, unlimited.

There are five total Verizon mobile plans: Start Unlimited, Do More Unlimited, Play More Unlimited, Get More Unlimited, and a fifth add-on plan known as Just Kids. The four primary plans are getting a price reduction by $5 while Just Kids stays the same price.

Additionally, you can now mix-and-match the plans on a family account. For example, you could have one parent on the lowest-end Start Unlimited plan, another parent on the highest-end Get More Unlimited plan, and then one child on the Just Kids plan. Previously, the two main accounts needed to be the same.

Other than the price drop and the ability to mix and match, the Verizon Unlimited plans remain largely unchanged:

Remember that 5G access — which is only available on select devices — will eventually cost you an extra $10 per month. However, for the time being, that fee is waived for all primary plans except for Start Unlimited, although Verizon is mum on how long that will be the case.

Although the four primary plans all have “unlimited” in the name, you still only get a certain amount of unthrottled high-speed data. After you get through your bucket of allotted data, you could get pushed down to 600Kbps speeds.
