It’s not all April Fool’s day jokes and hoaxes today, as at least a few legitimate announcements have managed to surface amid the online chaos. With that in mind, Square Enix has now released the Playstation (Saturn and Dos, too) classic Tomb Raider to Google Play! We’ve seen many classic games ported to Android over the years, and many times these ports include updated graphics, new locations, in-app purchases, and plenty of other modifications. More often than not, these ‘updates’ are a step backward, not forward. Thankfully, that’s not the case here.

As the official release notes states, “We’ve not messed about with it, so it’s the full, unedited, unadulterated experience from the classic release at a super-low price”. That means you get the raw, unedited, and rather low-res classic, for the extremely low price of just $.99. Not bad. The only major change here is, obviously, the addition of touch controls, though Square Enix also has support baked in for the MOGA Ace Power and Logitech Powershell controls.

There have been some reports that the on-screen controllers are pretty bad, so keep that in mind. Of course, the game’s only $.99, so it might be worth the risk. Anyone pick up this port yet, if so, what do you think?
