First released in 2016 for PC and later released for the current crop of home consoles, This Is the Police is now available for Android.

The game puts you in the shoes of Police Chief Jack Boyd, who faces forced retirement in 180 days. Unfortunately for Boyd, he must amass $500,000 before he retires.

How Boyd collects such a massive amount of money in a short amount of time is up to you and the choices you make. For example, you can utilize the local mafia and turn a blind eye to their sketchy activities for money.

As the police chief, you can also respond to calls and handle them as you see fit. For example, one call might only require two police officers while a more serious incident requires a larger police presence.

Make sure to keep tabs on how many officers you have at your disposal. Send too many officers out and you won’t have any available to stop crimes. Failure to stop crimes results in your squad and pay being reduced.

In addition to money-gathering and police work, you’ll also have to contend with two political figures. Your officers have differing political opinions that you should consider before sending them out in groups.

I won’t spoil too much here except to say that political alliances play a key role in the gameplay later on.

This Is the Police even includes crime investigation gameplay mechanics. You can piece together clues to figure out what happened before a crime took place. From there, you can take steps to apprehend the criminal.

There is a lot to This Is the Police, and it’s up to you to make sense of it all. The game is available at the link below for $7.99 and does not include in-app purchases.
